Oluwaseyi Fabunmi, Creative Director, ParallelMedia Studios, is an award-winning documentary and wedding filmmaker based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Born on 8th April 1986, Oluwaseyi’s foray into film making began during his undergraduate studies at the University of Lagos, where he learnt multimedia production as an extra-curricular pursuit and rapidly grew his creative skills via the Internet and the power of Google’s search engine. He has since worked with top non-governmental organisations and leading corporate brands, including Total Nigeria PLC, Dunn Loren Merrifield, Ovie Brume Foundation, Making of Champions Limited, and Speak Up Africa (in partnership with UNICEF and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation).

In 2013, Oluwaseyi partnered with Bayo Omoboriowo, Bemigho Awala, and Mobolaji Adeolu to make his first documentary, Hustle on a Mile, the first ever documentary film to be shot in the popular Mile 12 market in Lagos. His team won first position at the MTN-sponsored Afrinolly Short Film competition – worth $25,000 – after a keenly contested competition which has industry veterans, Tunde Kelani, Femi Odugbemi, and Kunle Afolayan amongst others as on the board of judges. Two years later, he collaborated with Mobolaji Adeolu to produce “A Will Iron”, a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-sponsored short film which won the 2015 Sundance Short Film competition (Documentary Category) with a reward of $10,000 and sponsored trip to the Film Festival in January 2015. Oluwaseyi is currently one of the only two Nigerian alumni of the Sundance Film Institute.


Oluwaseyi currently serves as the Creative Director of Africa’s leading production company, ParallelMedia Studios which boasts of several top range clients, including Lagos Business School (African Business Conference 2016), Total Nigeria Plc, Kasher Consulting, Speak Up Africa, Dunn Loren Merrifield – in Association with the World Bank, GBC Health – in partnership with Access Bank and HACEY, and the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Oluwaseyi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious University of Lagos (2010) and recently graduated from a Leadership and Lifestyle Coaching program administered by Purpose, Power and Lifestyle Design International (PPLD), a life transformational leadership and coaching training program endorsed by role models such as Prof. Pat Utomi, Dr. Christopher Kolade, and Mr. Keith Richards, Managing Director, Promasidor Nigeria Limited. Prior to this, he also participated in the Digify Bytes 101 social media training organized by Google and Livity.

Oluwaseyi is happily married to Barrister Gbemisola Fabunmi and a proud father of their son, Adesire Emmanuel.
